Preventive and corrective wheel maintenance = higher profitability
An interrupted shipment costs time, money and reputation for everyone involved, including customers, suppliers and carriers. As a result, preventive wagon maintenance and corrective repairs are vital. Our well-equipped workshops have the machinery and knowledge to quickly deliver service and ensure traffic safety, thus bringing our customers' wagons back in service with the least possible downtime.
Turning, bearing box maintenance and re-wheeling extend wagon lifespan
These are key parts of our business and critical for literally keeping traffic rolling. Every year, over 10,000 wheel pairs pass through our workshops. With cutting-edge technology (for example, we have some of Sweden’s only wheel-turning machines), we provide services such as turning, scheduled preventive maintenance of bearing boxes and re-wheeling. Thorough maintenance is the key to cutting operating costs and extending the wagon’s lifespan.
Time is money – rapid response and maximum mobility reduce downtime
We prioritised this segment in recent years and now offer around 40 mobile units. All SweMaint locations have mobile workshops that can spring to action and repair damage on site – usually on the rails. This service is well-established and covers almost all of Sweden. Our service cars have equipment for every conceivable scenario. The mobile workshops are a key part of our efforts to minimise downtime and thus improve the conditions for and competitiveness of rail freight in comparison to other modes of transport.
National replacement system and railside assistance secure long-haul business
We are the biggest in Sweden when it comes to wheels, and customers who sign a wheel supply agreement with us gain access to a rationalised national replacement system. We keep the most common types of wheels in stock at over 30 locations across Sweden. The supply agreement also includes access to our mobile units – in other words, fast, efficient and nearby service wherever your wheels need to be changed in Sweden.
Our wheel pool has 28,000 wheel pairs, of which 3,000 comprise our cycle stock. Our spare wheel pairs are kept in stock in every workshop, ensuring our customers always have access to wheel pairs wherever their wheels need to be changed. All pairs are individually labelled and entered in a database that makes them easy to track.
Spare parts and replacement components in stock when you need them
Given that we are a full-service company, we also offer our customers material supply services. Our stocks are extensive, and we also sell spare parts and replacement components for most types of freight wagons.
24/7 availability gets tracks cleared and wagons back in service quickly
Our goal is to keep freight wagons rolling 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, it's impossible to foresee all the damage and incidents that may occur. Therefore, we also offer a salvage and clearance service that is open 24 hours a day to minimise delays. The service involves removing freight and passenger wagons that are out of order for any reason.
We keep you on track both in Sweden and internationally
We are well versed in all types of freight wagons rolling on Europe's rails. We are also knowledgeable about both national and international requirements for maintenance and traffic safety along with requirements for activities such as conversion. Decades of developing our machinery, working methods and human resources have given us experience that we are happy to share. Training and expert advice are thus natural parts of our complete customer offering.
Match your wagon to the market – earn more money
Customisation and conversion of existing wagons can sometimes be a smart solution for further increasing efficiency, improving transport economics, and by extension, competitiveness. We customise all types of freight wagons according to the customer’s needs, both internally and externally. This can include everything from more extensive alterations to minor modifications of parts. Some examples include integrating loading equipment, conversion to container wagons, reclassification, and restoration of wagons to original classification.
